Splendor Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 116 Amsterdam, the Netherlands The Irish musicologist, writer and musician Bob Gilmore lived and worked in Amsterdam. Bob was a formidable and passionate advocate for the music of our time until shortly before his death this past January. He was the artistic leader and keyboardist of Trio Scordatura, an ensemble that specialized in music exploring alternative tuning systems. Bob touched the lives of many composers, performers and listeners on several continents with his broad musical knowledge, humor and irresistible personality. Friends of Splendor know him both from Trio Scordatura and his memorable contribution to the first St. Patrick’s Day event in 2014. Family, friends and colleagues of Bob’s will come together on his birthday to perform a wide range of music dear to him. They will play music of the past to music by his circle of befriended composers, including pieces especially composed for this unique evening. Come celebrate Bob’s life with us in an evening of music, poetry and stories. The program includes music of Johannes Brahms, Benjamin Britten, Leoš Janácek, Yannis Kyriakides, Anne La Berge, Marc Sabat, Ned McGowan, David Dramm, Larry Polansky en Walter Zimmerman.
